(Okoboji)– The University of Iowa Hancher Auditorium and the Lakes Art Center have received a two thousand dollar grant from Humanities Iowa.
Lissa Potter of the Lakes Art Center says it will allow them to bring Wycliffe Gordon to the lakes area this fall. Gordon will hold an educational event October 22nd at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. It’s titled “Roots of Jazz and Gospel Music”.
He’ll also perform at the Lakes Art Center.
Gordon was an original member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. He has released five solo cd’s and has been honored as the Jazz Journalists Association Trombonist of The Year.
