Juveniles Arrested In Royal Burglary

November 22, 2014

(Royal)– Three juveniles have been charged in connection with a burglary earlier this week at a business in Royal. Two others were cited for receiving property that was stolen from the business.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday stating that Fredericks of Royal had been broken into either late Tuesday or early Wednesday. Cash, cigarettes, cigars and lighters were missing.

Through the process of their investigation deputies were able to recover some evidence and interviewed possible suspects. Deputies later determined that three male juveniles from Royal, ages 12, 13 and 17, were involved in the burglary. Deputies recovered most of the stolen merchandise from two of the juvenile’s homes. The three juveniles were cited in juvenile court for burglary in the third degree and released to their parents.

A further investigation yielded information that some of the stolen cigarettes had been given to two other male juveniles–a 14-year-old from Royal and a 14-year-old from Spencer–knowing they had been stolen from the store. Both were cited in juvenile court for receiving stolen property and were released to their parents.

Authorities say they’re still looking for some of the stolen money. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
