June Traffic Stop Results In Charges Against Two Spencer Women

(Spencer)– A traffic stop last month has resulted in charges against two Spencer women.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy conducted an investigation of a stolen registration tag that being used on the vehicle that was pulled over for operating while intoxicated back on June 19th.

Authorities say their investigation resulted in them discovering 31-year-old Jennifer Armstrong of Spencer had allegedly assisted in the theft of a registration tag from a vehicle at the Cardio Plus parking lot some time in June. Deputies met Armstrong at her residence and she was arrested and transported to the Clay county jail without incident.

Upon further investigation authorities determined 33-year-old Heather Peterson of Spencer was also allegedly involved in the theft of the registration sticker. Deputies met Peterson at her residence. She she was arrested and booked into the Clay county jail without incident.

Peterson was cited into court for theft in the fifth degree and was later released; Armstrong was charged with interference with official acts, operation without registration and improper use of registration. Armstrong was later released on a $300 cash or surety bond.
