(Spirit Lake)– There’s been a changing of the guard so to speak at the Dickinson County Veteran’s Affairs Office.
John Tonsfeldt’s last day on the job as Dickinson County Veteran’s Affairs Director was last Friday. He has since retired and is looking forward to doing some travelling, fishing and hunting.
Tonsfeldt says the huge increase in traffic in the Veteran’s Affairs Office in recent years gives him a special feeling of satisfaction. He says there’s been a 10-fold increase in the number of veterans the office has served since he became Director some 13 years ago.
Tonsfeldt says he’s very appreciative of all the people he’s worked with over the years.
A retirement reception/open house for Tonsfeldt was held this past Friday.
Ernest Cupp has assumed the duties as the county’s Veteran’s Affairs Director. The office is located on the lower level of the Dickinson county courthouse in Spirit Lake.
