(Jackson, Mn.)– Upwards of four to seven inches of rain that’s fallen in the last 24 hours is causing extensive flooding in some low lying areas of Jackson county and has some roads submerged.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement this (Thursday) afternoon advising motorists to use extreme caution.
The county’s Highway Department says many county and township roads are under water and have been barricaded.
While it’s mostly township roads that are being affected, officials say some more heavily traveled roads are also being impacted, including Jackson County Road 29 north of Alpha which was closed earlier today (Thurs.)
The Sheriff’s Office warns motorists not to drive around barricades, but instead to turn around and find another route. Not only do the roads have water flowing over them, but officials say there’s also concern over the integrity of some of the road beds which may be undermined.
