ISU Extension Names New Education Director For Northwest Iowa

November 23, 2014

(Sioux City)– The Iowa State University Extension Service has a new Education Director for its northwest Iowa offices.

Don Nitchie, an extension program director at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, has been appointed to the post effective July 1st.

Stanley R. Johnson, I-S-U Provost for Extension, made the announcement late last week.

Nitchie will manage more than 100 extension staff and programs in 20 northwest Iowa counties, including Clay and Dickinson.

Nitchie has worked in extension since 1992, starting in farm management and as regional director at posts in Colorado. He has served as agricultural and rural leadership program director since last year. Prior to joining extension Nitchie was a vocational agriculture instructor and a director of commodity marketing and education at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, having spent time in northwest Iowa conducting seminars for the exchange in the early 1980’s.

Nitchie was selected through a search process headed by Ann Lohman, Clay County Extension Education Director, and Robert Ramsey, I-S-U Area Extension Education Director in southwest Iowa.
