(Spirit Lake)– The Iowa State Patrol is out with its annual reminders for motorists this holiday season.
Trooper Vince Kurtz is a Safety Education Officer with the State Patrol’s Post Six Office in Spencer. He tells KUOO news the State Patrol will have additional troopers on the roads periodically over the holiday period watching for speeders, occupant restraint, and impaired drivers.
Kurtz reminds anyone travelling any distance during the holidays to pay close attention to weather forecasts and road conditions for your point of departure, your destination and points in between. And he says you should have a winter survival kit in your vehicle.
Kurtz encourages everyone to drive defensively. Regardless of weather and surface conditions, Kurtz says it’s your responsibility to maintain control of your vehicle.
