Iowa Cleanwater Groups Looking At Projects In Minnesota

November 23, 2014

(Jackson, Mn.)– Groups working to improve water quality of the Iowa Great Lakes have been active on various projects locally for years. Now, they’re looking to expand their efforts north across the border into Jackson county, Minnesota.

Steve Anderson of the Iowa Great Lakes Cleanwater Alliance says it only makes sense because of a large part of the Iowa Great Lakes watershed is located there.

Anderson says a meeting last week with Jackson county officials was very positive. He says they’re especially excited over the possibility of joint water quality testing programs.

Anderson says several other joint projects are being considered…including a sophisticated mapping of the Iowa Great Lakes watershed in Jackson county. Anderson will meet with Jackson County Commissioners to see if they’d be willing to pay a five-thousand dollar local match for their share of the project.
