(Sibley)– An investigation continues into a fish kill in the Sibley area.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources estimates nearly two thousand fish, mostly minnows, were killed in Otter Creek.
The D-N-R’s Kevin Baskins says the kill was apparently the result of contamination from a city storm sewer. He says the agency is continuing to work with city officials to try to determine the source of the pollution.
Baskins says about a third of-a-mile of the stream was affected by the contamination. He says evidence of the kill started at a city storm sewer that discharges into an open channel flowing into the creek.
