(Estherville)– The Iowa Lakes Community College Board of Trustees Tuesday finalized the purchase of a hangar at the Estherville airport. They purchased the land on which the hangar is located; agreed to buy the hangar itself, and then terminated a lease with the city of Estherville for land which the college was no longer able to use. The college has been eyeing the hangar, previously owned by Purina Mills, for its expanding aviation program. Purina had been looking to sell since the Golden Sun plant in Estherville closed.
Trustees also Tuesday tabled bids for the Estherville student center project after learning all three bids came considerably higher than what an architect estimated. A subcommittee has been appointed to determine where costs could be reduced.
