ILCC Trustees Hold Reorganizational Meeting (1)

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College held their annual reorganizational meeting Tuesday in Estherville.

Jack Tatman was re-elected President of the board; John Hand was re-elected Vice-President; Clark Marshall was appointed Secretary and Bob L’Heureux Treasurer. Board members also received committee assignments.

Updates were given on various building projects. Delaine Hiney, Executive Director of Physical Plant, told the trustees work continues on the Criminal Justice Forensics Center in Estherville; preliminary site work will get underway next month for the new wind turbine near the Estherville campus; casework has been ordered for the science lab for the new addition at the Algona campus; and insulation is being placed on the roof of the new Technology Education Center at the Emmetsburg campus.

Trustees also approved the sale of 715-thousand dollars in industrial jobs training certificates on behalf of five area companies, including Country Maid of West Bend; Pure Fishing of Spirit Lake; Pharmacists Mutual of Algona; Voyager Ethanol in Emmetsburg; and G-K-N Armstrong Wheels of Armstrong and Estherville. The project has the combined effect of creating 175 new jobs. Training funds resulting from the sale of the certificates are repaid by the companies through a diversion of employee payroll taxes. There are no costs to the company, employees, taxpayers or the college to utilize the program.
