ILCC Trustees Approve Tuition Hike

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Students at Iowa Lakes Community College will pay more in tuition in the upcoming school year.

The college’s trustees Tuesday voted to increase tuition six dollars per credit hour to 96 dollars for 2004-2005. Minnesota residents receive a waiver of non-resident tuition through a reciprocity agreement. Tuition for other out-of-state and international students will go to 98-dollars per credit hour. College officials say it’s the smallest tuition increase in the last four years at Iowa Lakes. Trustees also adjusted fees for the upcoming college year to reflect needs of individual programs.

The trustees also Monday approved a three-year contract recently ratified by the college’s faculty association. It calls for a four and-a-half percent total package for the upcoming college year with agreements for 4.75 percent in each of the following two years.

ILCC trustees also awarded a bid from Midstates Builders of Spencer for almost 178-thousand dollars to complete the interior of a new addition at the Algona campus; and they accepted a bid of slightly more than 359-thousand dollars from VerSteeg Construction of Spencer to remodel the former student center at the Estherville Campus into the new Criminal Justice Forensic Center.
