ILCC Awarded Homeland Security Grant

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Iowa Lakes Community College has been awarded a 100-thousand dollar Homeland Security Grant.

Russell Slight, an Associate Professor at ILCC, says the money will be used for the college’s Computer Forensics Program.

Slight says they’ve been seeing an extremely high demand for the program, which trains investigators on various forms of computer crimes. Slight says the program is a one of it’s kind.

Slight adds the grant will help offset expenses of relocating the program to a new facility at the Estherville campus.

Courses in the program include internet criminal investigations, forensic computer science, an overview of cyber crimes and two specific computer courses.
