(Arnolds Park)– Members of the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum got some good financial news at Sunday’s annual meeting of the organization.
Financial statements showed a net operating gain through July 31st of 298-thousand dollars. Executive Director Jim Frost reported that net income is up 35-thousand dollars compared to July 31st, 2003 and expenses have been reduced by 153-thousand dollars. The organization is projected to end the year with an operating gain of 107-thousand dollars based on income of nearly 2.6 million dollars and expenses of almost 2.5 million.
It was also announced Sunday that Scott Pyle has been named General Manager of the organization. Pyle, who’s from Hartley, previously served as Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager and Amuseument Park Manager. He’ll now be responsible for day-to-day direction of administration and finance; facilities rental; food and beverage sales; games, rides and attractions; the museum; Queen Two and Queen’s Court.
Jim Frost, who has served as Executive Director since October, will now be assistant chairman responsible for fund raising, long range planning, marketing and public relations.
A name change was also discussed at Sunday’s meeting. The change has been proposed to help differentiate between the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum and the parent organization that manages the amusement park, Queen Two, Queen’s Court Shopping Complex, and the green space area. The board of directors took several suggestions under advisement.
The next regular monthly meeting of the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum board of directors will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 13th at the Hedberg Theatre of the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum.
