IGLMM Found Not At Fault In Alleged Rollercoaster Incident

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A Dickinson county jury has found the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum, owner of the Arnolds Park Amusement Park, not at fault for an incident involving a Wisconsin woman more than two years ago.

Tara Simon of Middleton, Wisconsin, sued the Maritime Museum in connection with an injury she claimed to have received while riding the roller coaster on July 15th, 2002.

In her suit, Simon claimed park operators were negligent in the operation and maintenance of the ride. Lawyers for the Maritime Museum argued the rollercoaster was safe and that park employees were diligent in maintenance, and that they were not negligent in its operation.

After deliberating several days, a jury agreed with the Maritime Museum, and the case was dismissed.

The trial started a week ago this past Tuesday. The jury returned its findings last (Thursday) evening.
