(Undated)– Another ice and wind storm is wreaking havoc on power lines.
Dick Morrieum of the Spirit Lake office of Alliant Energy tells KUOO news they’ve had numerous outages throughout the Iowa Great Lakes. Most were reported this (Thurs.) morning but the problems continued into the afternoon. And Morrieum says things probably won’t be getting much better as we head into the evening hours.
Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative has experienced outages as well.
Ice up to a half inch in thickness is coating lines…and winds gusting to over 30 miles-per-hour are causing them to bounce together…resulting in scattered outages.
A lot of tree damage is being reported as well.
