(Jackson, Mn.)– Two people from Storm Lake face drug charges following a tip that led to a traffic stop this past Saturday on Interstate 90 in Jackson county.
Jackson County Sheriff Roger Hawkinson says deputies were notified by an agent from the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement that a vehicle traveling westbound was believed to be bringing crack cocaine from the Minneapolis area to Iowa. Authorities located the suspect vehicle and pulled it over.
During the stop, a deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana, which resulted in a search of the vehicle and three occupants. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office K-9, “Bear”, assisted in the search which turned up two baggies of crack cocaine. The two occupants were then arrested and transported to the Jackson county jail.
Tuesday, authorities filed formal charges against 40-year-old Laushun Bagsby of Storm Lake and 32-year-old Lashawn Robert Hyche-Bradford…also of Storm Lake.
Bagsby was charged with one count of aid and advise controlled substance crime in the second degree. Bond was set at 100-thousand dollars.
Hyche-Bradford was charged with one count of aid and advise controlled substance crime in the second degree, one count of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree and obstructing arrest. His bond was set at 200-thousand dollars.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa Great Lakes Drug Task Force, the Storm Lake Police Department and the Jackson Police Department.
