(Spencer)– Charges have been filed in connection with Monday’s shooting incident in Spencer.
The Clay County Attorney’s Office has charged 71-year-old Harold Duncan of Spencer with first degree murder in connection with the death of his 62-year-old wife Karen, who was found shot to death in the couple’s trailer house at 317 West 18th Street in Spencer. Mrs. Duncan was lying on a bed with a gunshot wound to her torso. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Harold Duncan was also found lying on the bed suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. He’s in an Omaha hospital, scheduled to undergo surgery later this week. Duncan is expected to recover from his injuries.
The complaint filed today in Clay County District Court alleges Harold Duncan shot his wife Karen twice with a shotgun, then attempted suicide with the same weapon.
Police were called to the couple’s trailer around 8:30 a.m. Monday after receiving a report that Mrs. Duncan hadn’t shown up for work.
