Humane Society Of NW Ia Board Updated On Shelter Break-In

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Officials with the Humane Society of northwest Iowa say arrests may be forthcoming in a break-in at the organization’s shelter back in April of this year in which two dogs were stolen. One was later found dead near Terril; the other was found alive southwest of Milford.

While arrests may be pending, officials with the organization say they’ll allow law enforcement to finish investigating the matter and prosecution to take place before considering any civil action in the case.

A press release issued by the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa’s board of directors goes on to say…quote…”This was not a publicity stunt to raise money for the shelter and that horrible rumor should be put to rest”…unquote.

In addition to the two dogs being stolen, the shelter also sustained an estimated five thousand dollars in damage during the April 11th break-in.

The release goes on to thank the Dickinson County Attorney’s Office and law enforcement for their work on the case so far.

The organization’s board of directors was updated on the matter at their regular monthly meeting Monday.
