(Arnolds Park)– Democratic presidential hopeful Howard Dean made an appearance Thursday evening at a party function at the pavilion in Arnolds Park.
The Vermont Governor sounded off on a number of issues, and bashed President Bush’s tax cuts. Dean says Americans need to ask themselves if they’d rather have the tax cut or health insurance for all; if they’d rather have a tax cut or fully fund special education so property taxes go down and schools improve; if they’d rather have the President’s tax cuts or balance the budget and invest in America so there will be more jobs.
Dean also blasted Bush’s policy on Iraq. Dean says as President, he wouldn’t hesitate to send troops to certain regions to defend the U-S, but he says he would never send troops to a foreign country without being truthful to the American people.
Dean added that it’s time for the U-S to change its foreign policy to once again make this the most respected and admired country in the world.
Dean also expressed support for the importation of drugs on the wholesale level from countries such as Canada where they are cheaper. Dean says he’s confident that can be done without undermining local pharmacists.
Dean also told a crowd of about 300 people he supports equal rights for same sex couples that enter into a civil union.
