(Lake Park)– Patrons of the Harris-Lake Park School District can expect to pay a little more in property taxes in the upcoming fiscal year.
Superintendent Tim Christiansen says the budget being proposed contains an increase in the tax asking of about a dollar per thousand dollars valuation. Christiansen sites the decline in assessed valuations on farmland as the main factor behind the increase in the levy. He says the decline in the H-L-P District amounted to about 15 million dollars.
The Harris-Lake Park school board has also voted to renew the district’s board-approved Instructional Support Levy an additional five years. The current levy expires next year.
A public hearing on the proposed budget is set for 7:00 p.m. April 5th.
