(Spirit Lake)– A historic building in downtown Spirit Lake has a new owner.
Tom Fuhrman of Estherville has purchased the former Clothes Peddler building at the corner of Highways nine and 71 and Hill Avenue.
Fuhrman, who owns the Edward Jones office in Spirit Lake, says he plans to restore the building to its original splendor at the turn of the century. He says the entire front of the building will be rennovated and restored along with new windows on the lower level. Fuhrman says they found several photos and postcards of how the building looked at the turn of the century.
Fuhrman says he hopes to have the project complete by late June or July. At that time he says he’ll move the Edward Jones offices into the building’s main level. Fuhrman says they’ve simply outgrown their current location at 1401 Hill Avenue in Spirit Lake.
