(Undated)– The Highway 71 project through the Iowa Great Lakes is a national award winner.
Dennis Smith of the Iowa Department of Transportation says it’s been named one of 11 winners of the National Partnership for Highway Quality Achievement Awards.
In addition to the D-O-T, the award recognizes the general contractors on the project–Cedar Valley Corporation of Waterloo, the Irving F. Jensen Company of Sioux City and Christensen Brothers of Cherokee.
Smith says the award is based on several criteria…including customer focus, quality, teamwork, innovation and long term improvements.
Smith says the partnering process that was used here is being used in projects in other parts of the state…including the Interstate 235 project in Des Moines.
