Help Wanted Sign Comes Out At Clay County Fairgrounds

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Want a job working at one of the hundreds of food or retail booths at this year’s Clay County Fair?

Carol Morgan of Iowa Workforce Development says they’re now taking applications on behalf of fair exhibitors. You can fill out an application by stopping by their office at 217 West Fifth Street in Spencer between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Morgan says they’ll also have an office on the fairgrounds beginning September 7th.

Morgan says they have a wide variety of jobs available again this year, ranging from setting up carnival rides to selling various wares to cooking and cleaning. She says the number of jobs available is about the same as previous years.

Morgan says not all salaries may be covered under minimum wage laws and will vary with different employers. Employers must comply with federal and state labor laws regarding the hiring of youth aged 14 through 17.
