Hartley & Ocheyedan Fire Depts. Awarded Homeland Security Funding

(Undated)– Two local fire departments are among 17 in Iowa that will share in 676-thousand dollars in funding from the U-S Department of Homeland Security.

Hartley Fire and Rescue was awarded 18-thousand dollars and the Ocheyedan Fire Department will get 90-thousand.

The money will be used for equipment, technology and training to increase the effectiveness of fire prevention and support firefighter safety.

The latest round of grants was announced today (Wed.) by U-S Senator Tom Harkin.
