(Lake Park)– Voters in the Harris-Lake Park school district head to the polls December 11th to decide the fate of a 4.3 million dollar bond issue. The school board earlier this week officially set the date for the election after receiving a petition calling for the vote.
Plans call for a new seven through 12 school on a 15 acre site east of the swimming pool on the south edge of Lake Park along county road M-27.
Plans also call for a joint city/school library. A 60-thousand dollar grant from the state has been received to help offset the cost of that project. A senior citizens center is also proposed. Neither the library nor senior center would be funded through the bond issue. It would be strictly used for the school portion of the project.
