(Spirit Lake)– Area law enforcement agencies are out with their annual Halloween safety reminders.
Officer Rodney Baker of the Spirit Lake Police Department reminds parents it’s important to make sure children can be seen. He says they should wear costumes with light colors or make sure they have reflective tape or material.
Baker adds motorists need to be extremely cautious and on the lookout for the little ghosts and goblins. He encourages everyone to drive very slowly through residential areas and be prepared to stop quickly.
Baker adds trick-or-treaters should only go to houses that are lit up or have porch lights on. Baker also reminds parents to look over treats before children consume them.
Trick-or-treating will be going on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in most communities, including Spirit Lake.
