(Fort Dodge)– A send-off ceremony was held Wednesday in Fort Dodge for 85 soldiers with the First Battalion, 194th Field Artillery.
They’ve been called up as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and the global war on terrorism. Major Greg Hapgood says their mission orders are for about 18 months. Hapgood isn’t sure where the troops will be sent.
A total of 700 Iowa National Guard soldiers were involved in the latest call-up.
Several hundred family members took place in Wednesday’s send-off ceremony in Fort Dodge.
The First Battalion 194th has units in Spencer, Estherville, Algona, Storm Lake and Fort Dodge.
