(Spirit Lake)– Ground was broken Wednesday on a 1.3 million dollar expansion project at the Spirit Lake Middle School.
Superintendent Doctor Tim Grieves says the 11,500 square feet of additional space will include six more classrooms.
The project also includes some mechanical work and a rennovation of the Schuchert Circle at the high school.
Grieves says a 953-thousand dollar federal matching grant has allowed the district to move forward with the project. The one cent local option sales tax was used for the match.
Work on the project is already underway. Completion is slated for August 1st, 2004.
The existing portion of the Spirit Lake Middle School was constructed about 10 years ago.
