November 22, 2014

(Greenville)– A Greenville man has been charged for allegedly trying to burn down the house of a woman.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it received a complaint from a female on July 9th stating she was being harrassed by a man who was intoxicated and that he had been taking items out of her car and that he eventually took off running.

Upon investigating, authorities also determined the suspect allegedly lit a newspaper on fire and put it on the front porch of the complainant’s residence.

He’s also accused of threatening the complainant her son.

The suspect, 30-year-old Jerry Kilts of Greenville, was arrested at Trierweiler’s Shop in Greenville and was charged with public intoxication and arson in the first degree…a class “B” felony. He was booked into the Clay county jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond.
