Governor Vilsack Visits Spencer

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– Governor Tom Vilsack was in Spencer Thursday touting his plan to jumpstart the state’s economy.

The “Iowa Values Fund” failed to pass the legislature during the regular session when the Senate refused to debate it. The measure was overwhelmingly approved by the House.

Vilsack told a crowd at the Northwest Iowa Regional Airport the fund is critical to the state’s future. He says it will give a badly needed boost to the life-science industry.

Vilsack is confident the Senate WILL take up the measure in an upcoming special legislative session. A date for it hasn’t been set yet.

Vilsack said it’s crucial senators like David Johnson of Ocheyedan step up to the plate and support the program.
