(Spirit Lake)– The Iowa Great Lakes Cleanwater Alliance and other lakes area environmental groups are urging city governments and the county to send representatives to special monthly seminars they’ll be putting on.
Donna Buell of the Cleanwater Alliance was at Tuesday’s Spirit Lake city council meeting requesting the city send five representatives to the seminars that will begin in September and continue through May.
Buell says the seminars will be put on by specialists and will address what’s known as “low impact” development or “lake friendly” development.
Buell says they received nearly 70-thousand dollars in funding for the seminars. The only cost to local governments will be 50-dollars per representative to cover the cost of meals.
The Spirit Lake city council decided to send five city representatives to the seminars, to be held at Village West on West Lake Okoboji.
