Good Neighbor Fund Surpasses Goal

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Okoboji-Spirit Lake Good Neighbor Fund drive has surpassed its goal again.

Chairman Curt Johnson says they’ve raised 62,300-dollars…surpassing the 60-thousand dollar goal.

Officials attribute a contribution from the Dickinson County Attorney’s Office of several thousand dollars from public service donations required by the court for putting the drive over the top.

Among those getting a cut of the funding are the Voluntary Action Center which will get 7,500-dollars; The Center Against Abuse and Sexual Assault gets 4,500-dollars; a thousand dollars will go to the Salvation Army; Lakota Council Girl Scouts receives 4,300-dollars; Mid-America Council Boy Scouts will get eight thousand; 11-thousand dollars will go to the Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross; Time Out Nursery will get 3,500-dollars; Upper Des Moines Opportunity receives 1,500-dollars; Camp Foster YMCA will get 10-thousand dollars; Dickinson County Kinship and Discovery House will each get four thousand dollars; and a thousand dollars will go to the Northwest Iowa Humane Society.
