Good Neighbor Fund Passes Half-way Point

(Spirit Lake)– The Good Neighbor Fund of Spirit Lake and Okoboji has surpassed the half-way mark toward its 60-thousand dollar goal. As of today (Thurs.), officials say they’ve received 35-thousand dollars in contributions.

The Good Neighbor Fund of Spirit Lake and Okoboji supports 12 non-profit organizations in Dickinson county including the Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross, Discovery House, Camp Foster YMCA, Council for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, Humane Society of Northwest Iowa, Kinship, Lakota Girl Scout Council, Prairie Gold Boy Scout Council, Salvation Army, Timeout Nursery, Upper Des Moines Opportunity and the Voluntary Action Center.

Saturday, December 7th has been designated “Good Neighbor Day” at the Spirit Lake Wal-Mart with a portion of the store’s receipts that day being donated to the Good Neighbor Fund.
