Gillett Grove Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Meth Charge

(Sioux City)– A Gillett Grove man faces up to 40 years in prison for his role in a meth-making operation.

45-year-old Gary Burger appeared Monday in U-S District Court in Sioux City and pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to manufacture more than five grams of pure methamphetamine.

At the hearing, Burger admitted to participating in atleast five meth cooks using anhydrous ammonia. He provided precursors consisting of pseudoephedrine pills and lithium batteries, and helped steal anhydrous ammonia. He helped produce atleast 11 grams of pure meth and bought over 50 grams of meth in northern Iowa from April of 2001 and October of 2002.

Burger will be sentenced January 4th. He faces a minimum of five years and a maximum of 40 years in prison.

He will remain in the custody of the U-S Marshal pending sentencing.
