(Spencer)– A fundraising campaign is getting under way to build an all-seasons event center on the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer.
Ron Mills is heading up the campaign…titled “Generations of Excitement”. He says their goal is to raise one and-a-half million dollars. The project has a total estimated cost of three-point-eight million dollars. Funding for the remainder would come from a Vision Iowa application that’s being made on behalf of the project along with local option sales tax proceeds. The Spencer City Council is also thinking about putting a hotel-motel tax on the ballot with the November general election. That revenue would also be used.
Mills said they hope to have the money raised by the first of November.
