(Spirit Lake)– A one vehicle accident Wednesday evening in the Francis Sites area resulted in a considerable amount of damage and sent a Spirit Lake woman to the hospital.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s office says 31-year-old Kellie Werner of Spirit Lake lost control of a 1998 Ford Contour when she lost consciousness due to a medical problem. The vehicle left the road as she was traveling south on 255th Avenue. It struck a post in a parking area…breaking off a sign. The vehicle continued on…scuffing a driveway. It then collided with a tree and struck a retaining wall. It rotated to the left and finally came to rest.
Werner was taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. The extent of her injuries wasn’t known.
The Lakes Area Extrication Unit and Spirit Lake Fire Department were called to the scene to assist in removing Werner from the wreckage.
10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle.
The mishap took place around 5:00 p.m.
