Former Polaris Official Pleads Guilty To Charges

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A former environmental safety and security director at the Spirit Lake Polaris Industries plant has pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary in the second degree and three counts of false imprisonment.

Robert Matheson changed his plea after having pled not guilty previously to the charges.

Sentencing is set for 10:00 a.m. September 9th.

Matheson was accused of assaulting and holding several female employees against their will last year in his office at the Spirit Lake Polaris plant.

Authorities said Matheson also removed numerous items owned by Polaris before leaving his job for one in Mattoon, Illinois…where he was arrested at his office.

A search warrant executed by Illinois authorities turned up the items that had been reported missing along with evidence pertaining to the false imprisonment charges.

The case had been moved to Osceola county on a change of venue but has been transferred back to Dickinson county.
