Fog Cited As Factor In Three-Vehicle Accident In Osceola County

November 23, 2014

(Sibley)– Authorities say dense fog was a contributing factor in a three-vehicle accident Tuesday in Osceola county.

It took place around 9:45 a.m. at the junction of Highways nine and 59. The sheriff’s office says Roger Chambers of Sturgis, South Dakota was driving a semi tractor/trailer and had pulled out from a stop sign to turn north onto Highway 59 when he failed to see a car driven by David Anderson of Dell Rapids, South Dakota…who was eastbound on Highway nine. The vehicle driven by Anderson struck the back wheels of the semi trailer. Authorities say Anderson’s vehicle was sitting in the middle of the intersection when it was struck by an eastbound semi driven by Brian Koster of Dell Rapids, South Dakota.

Anderson was taken by ambulance to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley with head and neck injuries. He was later transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital.

No other injuries were reported.
