Five-year-old Injured In Jackson County Farm Accident

(Round Lake, Mn.)– A reminder just how dangerous farm equipment can be to youngsters.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says a five-year-old was injured over the weekend in a farm accident near Round Lake.

Authorities say the child’s grandmother, Rena Smith, was operating a skid loader when her grandson, five-year-old Jonathon Smith, fell out of the bucket, pinning his hand between the gravel driveway and the bucket of the skid loader.

Jonathon was eventually freed and was taken by ambulance to the Worthington Hospital. There was no immediate word on the extent of his injuries or condition.

The mishap took place aorund 2:40 p.m. Sunday at 34518 740th Street near Round Lake.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Round Lake Fire and Rescue and the Worthington Ambulance.
