(Spirit Lake)– Here’s a sign as to how dry things are getting: the Spirit Lake Fire Department was called to a grass fire this afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the Osceola Rural Water tower west of Spirit Lake around 3:30. Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson says workers were doing some maintenance work on the tower when sparks from a welder dropped onto some grass…starting it on fire. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze to less than an acre.
They were on the scene slightly less than an hour.
