Fire Knocks Out Power To Portion Of Okoboji

(Okoboji)– A fire in some electrical switch gear left portions of Okoboji in the dark this (Fri.) morning.

The Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department was called to an electrical switch cabinet across from Kum ‘n Go in Okoboji around 9:40 a.m. Fire Chief Steve Dulin tells KUOO news a malfunction resulted in a fire that completely incinerated the inside of the box.

Dulin says the fire was spotted by a passerby who noticed smoke coming out of the box and called the fire department.

Firefighters contained the blaze to the switch cabinet and no other damage was reported.

The Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department was at the scene for about a half-hour.
