(Wahpeton)– A house on the west side of West Lake Okoboji was heavily damaged by fire this (Wed.) morning.
Milford Fire Chief Don Eckard says his department was called to the scene near Light House Point shortly after 5:00 a.m.
Eckard says a neighbor reported lightning had hit the house, resulting in a big ball of fire coming up from the roof.
Eckard says the upper level of the home was pretty much gutted with considerable smoke and water damage to the rest of the structure.
The house is owned by John Parks of Belleview, Nebraska. Eckard says no one was home at the time the blaze broke out.
Firefighters were on the scene until late this morning.
