Fire Destroys House On Dickinson/Osceola Co. Line

November 22, 2014

(Lake Park)– A house was destroyed by fire Sunday evening on the Dickinson/Osceola county line southwest of Lake Park.

Lake Park Fire Chief Al Detlefsen says firefighters were called to 1724 100th Avenue around 8:00 p.m.

Detlefsen says the house, owned by Dan and Dave Lorch, was completely engulfed when firefighters arrived around 8:00 p.m. Detlefsen says they were able to keep the blaze from spreading to some nearby buildings. The house was destroyed.

No injuries were reported. Detlefsen says the house was vacant. He says some renters had moved out about a week earlier.

Detlefsen says the official cause of the blaze hasn’t been determined, but they’re speculating it could have been the result of a lightning strike.

The Lake Park Fire Department was assisted by the Harris Fire Department.

Firefighters were on the scene nearly two hours.

Prior to that fire, the Lake Park Fire Department was called to a field fire on 150th Avenue two miles east and a mile south of Lake Park. Firefighters were on the scene about a half-hour.
