Fire Destroys Another Barn Near Milford

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Barn fires are getting to be old hat for Milford firefighters.

They were called to another barn fire Monday morning…in just about the same vicinity as one Saturday.

Fire Chief Don Eckard says his department was called to 2451 235th Street about a mile and-a-half south of Milford shortly after 10:30 a.m. Upon arriving, Eckard says flames could be seen shooting from the upper half of the barn.

Eckard says there were some dog kennels in the bottom portion of the barn, along with some old hay. He says they were able to get the kennels out before the rest of the barn was consumed.

No injuries were reported and Eckard says the dogs were fine.

The barn was destroyed.

Eckard says embers from a nearby trashfire apparently landed on the roof of the barn, starting it on fire.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the barn itself. They were on the scene about an hour and-a-half.
