Fire Damages Paullina Pizza Parlor

November 22, 2014

(Paullina)– Fire has damaged a pizza parlor on the east side of Paullina.

Paullina firefighters were called to Candy’s Pizza just after 10:00 p.m. Saturday. They arrived to find flames coming from the southwest corner of the building. Firefighters were able to enter through the back of the establishment and extinguish the blaze.

The Iowa State Fire Marshal was called in Sunday to assist with the investigation. Investigators determined the fire started in an office on the southwest end of the building. An exact cause couldn’t be found at that time. Additional details are expected later this week.

The building sustained heavy damage. The fire spread from the office area up into the roof and burned a hole in the roof above the office. The building is unusable at this time. Damage estimates could exceed 50-thousand dollars.

The Primghar and Granville Fire Departments and O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene.

No injuries were reported.
