(Spirit Lake)– A fire early this morning damaged the garage area of a Spirit Lake office building.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called to ROC management at 1601 Keokuk Avenue around 4:45 this morning. Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson tells KUOO news upon arrival smoke was coming out of the garage area. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the garage. Jorgenson says a pickup parked inside the garage started on fire. He says the fire spread up a wall and into the attic. Firefighters were able to quickly knock it down. While the fire was contained to the garage, Jorgenson says the office part of the complex sustained some light smoke damage. The area was ventilated and it’s business as usual today.
Jorgenson says preliminary reports from the State Fire Marshall indicate the blaze started in the engine compartment of the pickup.
No injuries were reported.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department was at the scene for about two hours this morning.
