Fire Breaks Out At Another Ag Processing Facility In Sheldon

October 05, 2026

(Sheldon)— There’s been a fire at yet another ag processing facility in Sheldon.

Sheldon Fire Chief Brad Hindt says crews were called out Friday night just before midnight to AG Processing Inc. (AGP) for the report of a fire in a dust collection system. Hindt says firefighters could see visible flame coming from the third-floor facility. They met with AGP employees and were advised that there was a second facility on fire downstream from the main one. O’Brien County EMA deployed their drone to check for hot areas of the plant.

Firefighters began a coordinated fire attack on the two separate areas. Both fires were under control in about 45 minutes.

Hindt says the cause is under investigation.

Heavy damage was reported to the affected areas. No one was injured.

The Boyden, Sanborn, and Hospers Fire Departments, the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, the Sheldon Police Department, O’Brien County Emergency Management, the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, and employees from AG Processing all assisted the firefighters. They were on the scene nearly four hours.
