(Milford)– Two people were injured this (Tues.) morning in a fiery head-on crash three and-a-half miles west of Milford on Dickinson County Road A-34.
The Sheriff’s Office says a 2001 Ford pickup driven by 72-year-old Bernice Devos of Sioux Center was westbound and a 1995 Dodge Stratus driven by 24-year-old Brock Kleinwolterink of Sheldon was eastbound in the westbound lane when the two collided head-on. After impact, the vehicle Kleinwolterink was driving went into the north ditch and started on fire.
Both Devos and Kleinwolterink were taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare for evaluation. There had been a report earlier that one of the victims was airlifted to another hospital, but we haven’t been able to confirm that.
The mishap took place around 8:20 this (Tuesday) morning. It remains under investigation.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Milford, Arnolds Park and Okoboji Police Departments; the Milford Fire Department, Milford Rescue and Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance.
