(Maurice, Ia.)– Things are getting back to normal this (Tues.) morning following Monday’s fiber optics cable cut that knocked out long distance telephone service to most of northwest Iowa. some internet and cell phone service was also affected.
Officials with Qwest Communications say the line was cut between Maurice and Orange City Monday morning. Crews worked through the day and into the evening to restore service. Most affected customers had service restored as of this (Tues.) morning.
The outage caused problems for some local retailers who had trouble processing debit and credit card transactions due to the outage.
